Beurre Hardy’ is a large and distinctive French pear that produces an excellent and distinctive flavour with melting sweet juicy flesh and a fragrant rose-water perfume. Beurre Hardy is recommended by the RHS as a good pear to grow in England and it holds an Award of Garden Merit, so the quality is guaranteed. This is a very hardy variety that produces a regular crop late in the season from November, they prefer areas of full sun and to be planted in well-drained, fertile soil and will grow to a mature height of 4 metres, but can be contained in pots for a more manageable height. This is generally an excellent pollinator for other pear trees and partners especially well with Doyenne du Commice. A fantastic blossom display of brilliant white flowers bloom from April and May encouraging butterflies and birds into the garden.
