Description
Olea europaea. This is the olive of history. Left to its own devices it makes a round headed tree, this specimen has been trained into a standard style and would look great in a container on the patio. The leaves are lance shaped, coloured an unsurprising olive-green and silvery on their underside. There are small panicles of fragrant white flowers in summer and these are followed by olives, green at first and ripening to black. The trunk becomes hoary and tortured to a picturesque extent.
Tolerates down to -10C
Enjoys full sun and well-drained soil.Olea europaea. This is the olive of history.
