Hydrangea ‘Teller White’ 5L Another compact variety in this series with blue lacecap flowers – may need treating with hydrangea colourant to obtain the best colour. Macrophylla Hydrangeas can be divided into 2 broad flower types: 1. Mophead (or more correctly Hortensia) have the entire head of flowers made up of sterile conspicuous florets forming a globular head and 2 Lacecap which have small fertile flowers in the centre and the florets around the perimeter. All Hydrangeas appreciate a rich moisture retentive soil for best results and would prefer partial shade but will tolerate full sun as long as their moisture requirements are met. They are unusual in that the flower colour is to a certain extent determined by soil pH – acid soils tend to improve blue colours and alkaline soils pink shades.
