Description
This hardy and easy to grow variety produces spectacular blossoms during the spring from April onwards that invites birds and butterflies into the garden. Fruit will then begin to flourish and can be harvested from September where beautiful red blushed apples are produced that give a sharp and flavoursome taste and are perfect for using in traditional English desserts or can be eaten fresh. A brilliant alternative to the Cox apple, ‘Sunset’ does well as it is disease resistant holding the RHS Award of Garden Merit. A self-fertile variety, it is the ideal choice for a smaller garden where it can be pruned annually to keep to a manageable height or restricted by growing in large containers.
